dessert bar!

Since we already decided that we dont want a big cake and that we are doing a dessert bar, we've been trying to come up with various desserts that we can lay out. We are thinking of maybe doing a bunch of different tortes and goodies and of course my mom's cookies and peanut butter balls! I picked up something similar to this that I think might be a good idea for the chocolate goodies...

And then of course we are doing the candy buffet! We've been super lucky and I was given a ton of candy buffet things from one of my amazing brides, and the rest we found for super cheap on Craigslist (which, btw, I am in love with.). We are planning on setting it up in our colors, so the fact that all of the fall/halloween candies will be out the month of our wedding just works out amazing. And saves us money!

And then I came across this idea. I am in love.

Although I'm worried about the messiness of an open ice cream bar...I'm thinking that just sounds like alot of melty ice cream and toppings everywhere. So I went to Dippin Dot's website, and low and behold THEY SHIP! And they are affordable! How awesome would that be?! Get the disposable martini glasses and have a Dippin Dots bar! Ahh! I dont know the details or how that will exactly happen, but if it's possible, oh, it's happening.

I FOUND THEM!

AHHHH!!!!!

I FOUND MY SHOES!!!!

Adam and I were out in San Diego to shoot a wedding and we had a spare bit the day before to go shopping and we went to the Fashion Valley Mall (can we say, wow?) that had pretty much every store you can imagine. Well, as we know KC has many more stores than Omaha, however they lack a Bloomingdales. And I'm a fan of them. Anywho we went to walk through them, not planning on actually buying anything, and on our way back out we passed by the shoes. I wasn't looking really, just scanning, the way you do when you walk by on your way by something. I was scanning and on their displays out by the aisle this shoe jumped out on me and I literally did a double take right there. Adam kept walking, and I went up to these shoes and stared. They were THE wedding shoes from my dreams.

It was at that moment that I knew that I was getting those shoes. I really didnt care about the price. I hadnt tried them on or really done anything with them. I picked them up (they were perfect, again) and to make things even better, they were Betsey Johnson. One of my favorite designers.

You want to know the best thing? I had a quick moment of rationalization (ok so it was Adam, sighing that we werent leaving the store yet while I was oggling over these shoes) and pulled out my Blackberry and pulled up trusty Amazon to see the running price, since I can usually get a pretty accurate price through them to make sure I couldnt find them cheaper online. Well, Amazon quoted me a price almost twice as much...a mistake, I thought. So I went to Ebay...used these shoes were still going for about the same price that Bloomingdales wanted new. I knew they were on sale but WOW. As the sales person went to find my size, he mentioned their other sale (ANOTHER sale?!) how you can take an additional 20% off of the sale price on the shoes if you bought a second pair. Any shoe. Hmm...well I needed a pair of tennis shoes anyway, so I found a pair of cute sketchers that came to be insanely cheap as well, and then my dream shoes were so cheap it was insane.

They came home in the bag. I am in love.

AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy.

flower time

I've been thinking for a while now what I was going to do for flowers...and I still haven't decided. My mom is making all of the centerpieces, so I'm not worried about those, but for the bouquets I think I want to do the real flowers. I just love seeing the flowers delivered to the wedding and smelling all pretty and it just really brings the whole thing together and makes it more...real? I dont know. That and I want to preserve it, and I just think the real ones look so pretty.

I know I want to have a big bouquet, but more of a cascading one, not the typical round. I also like the arm ones, but I think I like the cascading more. And I know that I want Tina's and Kelsey's to be different than the rest...at least I think. Ha-can we tell I'm indecisive? And colors? I have no idea. I want mine to have stargazer lilies and white roses...but our colors are fall, and I want the girls to carry those colors. But that may look ridiculous.

I just dont know. I'm so undecisive!

I think this is my favorite

Obviously some of these I just like the style and not the flowers inside...I mean I do want other flowers than just lilies!

shoes!

I can't believe I didnt dedicate a post to this earlier. SHOES!!!

I've been debating on which shoes to get for months. I obsess over this. In fact, I look at shoe websites trying to find the perfect shoes probably a few times a week. So far I just havent found THE SHOES...I just know that when I see them, I'll know. I'm pretty sure that I want pink shoes. And then I'll dye my crinny pink to match. I just can't seem to find the one...I have a picture in my mine of what I WANT them to look like, and none have just had that RIGHT factor...I know I still have time, but it's become rather frustrating!

These are my favorites. They are also insanely expensive, and nowhere near my budget.

None of these just have that...IT. Ugh. Soon I will find shoes.

happy easter!!

Happy Easter!

Unfortunately we both live at least 2 hours from our family, and since we both have to work Monday morning, we weren't able to visit our families for Easter. Instead we did what any other sane person would do- we went to see the Royals, in the rain!

It was a blast. It was freezing, and we had to sit there in rain ponchos, but it was super fun, and really a neat way to spend the holiday. Then we went to a fun little Middle Eastern restaurant in Westport. All in all, it was a really fun day.

And yes, we did dress our dog in bunny ears and a dress. And she was mighty adorable. :)

orb!!

I've actually had this for a while, but I just came across my pictures I took of it back when it arrived and I got just as excited as when I first found it!

One of my brides had a blog when she was planning her wedding, and I used to check in on it every once in a while and she had a post about this other bride who's blog she followed (confusing, I know) and I was bored so I clicked on over to that bride and was amused with her style of writing so I kept looking around and came across her post about this ring orb that she used in her wedding. I loved the idea, and the pictures they took with it on the wedding day were so cool, I just had to find this. Lucky for me, she posted a link to the online store where she bought it, since it is hand made and they only made a handful before discontinuing them, which I think was silly because after more searching I found out that the trend actually had a pretty popular following. Anywho, I found the site with them and was dissapointed because they had run out of the ones with the light blue inside (the "something blue" part I was hoping for) and the saying I wanted, and the only wedding one they ended up having left had a lavender color inside. But I was really drawn to this, and I really wanted to copper outside, so after emailing them to MAKE SURE they were really out of the copper one with blue inside (hey, never know til you ask, right?) I placed my order for the copper/lavender one. It came a few days later in this super cute purple box, and I just LOVE it!! Ahh! I dont know if they have any more, it was quite a while ago when I bought it, but it came from Scarlett Alley. They have a bunch of super cute wedding things, I may have to look for more goodies from them.

Isn't it cute?! I think so. Perhaps if I look around hard enough I can find that girl's blog (if she still has it) and share some of the orb pictures.

engagement pictures!

We booked an engagement photographer!

We went back and forth alot about where to get these done- do we do Omaha, where we grew up? Where we are now? How about Springfield, since that's where the wedding is? Well initially we wanted Omaha. However our photographer from there, well, we dont like (long, long story there) and while we initially had an engagement session included with them, changing our date made us change our package and now we dont. Our ceremony photographer in Springfield we just booked for a set hour package, so we are back to square one. So we had to search for yet ANOTHER photographer, and one that gave a print release and all photos on a DVD because I want to make us a picture guest book.

After many days searching and getting price quotes, we decided to get them done right here in KC. Since this is where we are now, plus- there are so many kicking places to get them done here, we just had to take advantage of the awesome backdrops. Through my advertising site I found Christina Sandberg- and I love her style. She seems like a really cool person with a similar view on things photography-wise as us, and even though she is a bit pricier than we had hoped to spend, I know our pictures will be worth it. I'm super excited to get them done!! Adam, not so much...but he'll come around! :)

Me

I'm a newlywed with a love for the little things in life- sipping a cappuccino at a local coffee shop in the sunshine, art that seems to make no sense, the smile my husband gets sometimes when I catch him watching me, the cool breeze in the fall when the leaves are changing, my dog when she has somehow manages to wedge herself under my hand and I find myself petting her unknowingly, the smell of freshly cut grass, the sounds of the ocean, taking photos of instances you can never get back. I feel too much about things but may not always say it. I adore my mother. You'll find I take a lot of pictures. La vita รจ bella.
