kelsey, the dress, the shoes, and the air vent...

Hahaha, so I forgot to update with these fun pictures of my sister from the trip. I had her try on the completed bridesmaid dress with the slip and shoes and they are super cute! She had some fun trying the Marilyn Monroe pose with the air vent...and also had a fun time practicing walking in her shoes...hahahahahaha. There may be trippage on the wedding day.

Attempting to put the shoes on...

And immediately falling.

She's up. Ignore the polka dotted bra.

Closeup of the shoes and slip!

She cant quite figure out how to do the pose...

Falling into the air vent...

Attempt number 1.

Attempt number 2.

I really have no idea.

Hahahaha. So if you ignore the tripping and falling and weird faces- the dress is pretty cute! And the shoes (although tall!) look cute too. And I love the slip!

embarassing pictures of my sister... :)

I finally got around to getting these pictures up of when I was down in Springfield last and Kelsey got to try on her dress. Hahahaha. She was SO thrilled (not...) when I started taking her picture...

HA! Her fault for not just smiling!

I think once we get the crinolines underneath they will look really cute because they will be fuller. I love the color though! Hopefully the crinnys will come in before I leave to go back down there in a couple weeks...

dress shopping!

Yesterday I accomplished quite a bit of the big wedding day stuff with the family while they were in town. Since they are only here through Wednesday, I wanted to make the most of our time together and they had really wanted to see the big mall that we have here. So yesterday I took them out, and while we were there we noticed that the Dillards has a big section of formal dresses for Skyler's size, and while looking around, actually came across a super cute gold and brown dress. It's cheaper than any of the bridal salons, and it fit, so we decided to get that while we could and return it if something better comes along later.

Well, while we were there, Kelsey and I decided that we needed to have my mom try on some dresses, since she was in the market and all for a dress...she wasnt exactly THRILLED with us, but she did it (dont even try and say you didnt have fun mother!) and ended up finding a pretty rose colored one. She isnt quite set on it yet I dont think, but since it was on clearance, she got it anyway and like Skye's it can be taken back if something better comes along. The fun part of the day was getting her to try on the dresses...hehe.

Hehehe, she probably thinks I wouldnt put this up here. But I think it's cute! They tried to get me in one too, but I think it looks better on them! Hahaha. My hott hott family! :D

It's been so nice having them here. I miss getting to see them all the time since they moved, and I wish they could stay longer. :(

happy late 4th of july!

Happy 4th of July!!!

No wedding stuff was really accomplished this weekend, Adam and I spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday- ALL DAY- moving to our new place so we didnt really get a 4th of July either. Did I mention how much I hate moving? It always seems like you pack and pack but after the movers come, you are still left with enough things to drive you insane. Guh.

In any case, we are settled into the new place now which is much nicer than our old one and that always makes me happy. Now if we could just press a button and have everything unpacked and set up, I would be a happy camper. Living amongst boxes isnt really fun.

Anywho, we need to start designing the actual invitations now, seeing as those really need to go out in, like, a week. We are shooting to have them out in a couple weeks, though I have no idea if that will actually happen. At least I know where my invite stuff is!

Hopefully we can get the bridesmaid dress stuff accomplished this week, the girls know the dress and we are ordering the crinnys soon, and I'm on the lookout for a couple of cute shoe options to show them colors and whatnot, though I dont think I'm going to make them all wear the same thing unless I just happen to find something amazing. Ha.

success!

YAYY!!!

The bridesmaid dress came in the mail today and the color is PERFECT! I was super worried, since the gold version of this dress didnt dazzle me, but the color of this dress actually makes the style super cute, and with my wonderful idea of a dark brown crinny underneath I think they are going to be the ones! I'm going to have Kelsey try it on this weekend, so hopefully it will work and I can have the girls order them this next week. I will be very relieved when this part is done and they all have their dresses...

I am very irritated. I cant find my memory card reader for my camera, so the pictures I took of the dress I cant get onto my computer. So this is the only picture I have and it sucks because it was taken on my phone. Blah. I took a bunch of exciting pictures to show the color and whatnot, and my camera is sitting right next to me, but because Kodak fails and needs a special cable to upload from the camera and I lost my regular memory card reader, I'm stuck. Grrr.

they're HERE!

I just got home from work and I was SO EXCITED! There were 3 boxes waiting for me, which means that both the dresses AND the envelopes both came! Ahh! The envelopes are SO awesome. I got them through PaperWorks, which I was tipped off to through Catie's Blog. They were super reasonable and had the brown color that I wanted for them. They came in a nice little box too! I'll print the names and all on them later today so these suckers can get in the mail in the next couple days!

They really are brown, this picture makes them look lighter than they are.

So many envelopes!!!

As for the dresses, I got them unpacked and when I just glanced at them I wasnt a huge fan of the strapless. I mean I liked it, the top of it was neat, but the bottom just had a strange look to it. The shorter one was cute though, although I had expected it to be even shorter. I went ahead and tried them on, and my suspicions were confirmed. The strapless, although cute onthe top, was really unflattering on the bottom. I dont know why...I think the pleats or whatnot in the skirt kind of clash with the dress itself...I dont know. It could also look great on everyone else though, so I will take it to Omaha in a couple days and let people try it on to get their opinions.

The shorted dress was really cute! Although the medium was too big you could still get the idea. I think with a slip underneath to make it fuller it would be really cute. I'll have to see it on everyone but if it looks cute I think that will be the one. And it really isnt short at all, it actually only goes to your ankle. We will see though. I'm so excited that they actually came!

HERE!

Out of the box! The color is nice.

So I guess we will see Friday which one is the best. I'm off to edit and then print the rest of the invites and the envelopes!

so sad!

Huge bummer!

I went to order the bridesmaid dresses and the front-runner, dress #3, is on clearance- good for pricing, but bad because it meant that the only sizes it had available were a 10 & 18, both in the color white. None of those options are any good, haha, so the one that was my favorite had to be forgotten. So I did place the order for the other two, and I'm really hoping that one of them looks ok. It would be such a relief to have those decided and done!

Now I just have to be patient until they come!!

bridesmaid dresses!

I have been having the absolute hardest time finding bridesmaid dresses for my lovely ladies. Mostly because I think all of the ones in the bridal salons are over priced and too plain, and partly because I need to pick them out in Omaha because everyone is there and I never have time when I am back there. Another thing is I cant really decide if I want a formal, long dress or more of a funner shorter style. For an outdoor wedding I like the idea of a shorter one, but all of the dresses I have found have been REALLY short, and since it IS in October, I dont want people freezing if it chooses to be a bit chilly that day.

Well today I was thinking again about my rehearsal dinner dress, and how much I liked the dresses on that website. So I found the site again and was looking around and forgot that they sell formals (even wedding gowns) on there too! So I went looking at the dresses and found 6, yes 6 dresses that I like! So I decided to post them up in an album and take a poll to get the top runners. Then I'd pick the top 3, order them from the site, have someone try them on, then whichever worked (if any) I'd know and send the others back and then let the girls order their own, since then it would come to them and they can get their sizes, etc.

After I sent out the link I got responses right away, and most people gave me their top 2 picks, and luckily most of them turned out to be mostly the same! So it wasnt too hard picking the top 3. Here they are in no particular order...

Dress #1.-A classy strapless with an awesome top. I love the beading and design on the top.

Dress #2- A super cute shorter option. I'm a big fan of this one, it's simple, yet the length I was looking for, and I have a REALLY cute idea for this dress if it actually looks good in person...

Dress #3- This dress actually got the most "votes". I really like it too, the top is my favorite, with the antique lace and beaded straps...this may be the front runner at the moment...

So I'm going to try and place an order for these 3 this week, so I can get them in and decide. Then I'll return the non-good ones and everyone can order these so they can have time to get the altered if need-be. I'm so excited and I hope they fit and look nice in person!!!

Me

I'm a newlywed with a love for the little things in life- sipping a cappuccino at a local coffee shop in the sunshine, art that seems to make no sense, the smile my husband gets sometimes when I catch him watching me, the cool breeze in the fall when the leaves are changing, my dog when she has somehow manages to wedge herself under my hand and I find myself petting her unknowingly, the smell of freshly cut grass, the sounds of the ocean, taking photos of instances you can never get back. I feel too much about things but may not always say it. I adore my mother. You'll find I take a lot of pictures. La vita รจ bella.
